Who we are

our mission

The Reef Conservation Society (RCS) is a charitable non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation dedicated to the marine aquarium hobby. Our main goal is to educate the public and other aquarium enthusiasts about natural reef ecosystems and reefkeeping. We are dedicated to the conservation of global reefs by educating the public as well as members, holding regular frag swaps, encouraging coral propagation by its members, helping local schools through the Tanks in Schools program, and as a forum for members to share their experiences. Our membership is mainly comprised of hobbyists from Pennsylvania and surrounding states. Each year we hold at least three frag swaps where members trade corals, hear presentations from experts in the field, see Do-It-Yourself seminars and share knowledge about our experiences with the reef aquarium hobby. Members also participate in online discussions on our forum, Reef Central and Facebook.

Help is always appreciated

We work hard to establish and maintain strong relationships with other organizations and companies in our hobby. We need help with everything from seeking donations for our swap raffles, coordinating with venues in preparation for swaps, writing grants to support our Tanksin Schools mission, communicating with members and general help during our events. Send an e-mail to anyone on the Board of Directors if you're able to lend a hand.
